Episode 58: Vista, Firefox 2.0, EA and More!

Host: Kristin Hatcher This week Kristin and the crew kick things off with an uplifting story about Scott Adams, creator of Dilbert, gets his voice back after 18 months. From there, we cover IBM's patent lawsuit against Amazon and Dell pushes for everyone to adopt Vista ASAP. Sophos claims McAfee and Symantec should have been better prepared for Vista instead of whining and Brad digs into a grossly misled article about Vista's GUI. Derek talks about the new Firefox 2.0 release and what happened to Apple in the computer world since the 90s and how it could have been different.

In the gaming portion, Joel talks about Blizzard's announcement that the World of Warcraft expansion will be bumped back to a 2007 release. Also, EA slams XBox 360 users with micropayments for "officially sanctioned cheating" in Tiger Woods Golf and other Godfather. Lumines Live! makes users pay out the wazoo for what should be standard game functionality. Lik-Sang shuts down due to Sony lawsuit and Rockstar's Bully has some boy-on-boy action and the ESRB doesn't care. And finally, Jack Thompson's back in the news raging against Bully, in potential contempt of court and threatening to run for judge! The end is near!

Brad has a good rant about Rush Limbaugh reading his blog on the air for 3 days and much more! It's an extra long show this week! Dig in!

I hate to be the one to say this, but...

[Almost] all the new features in Firefox have been in Opera for a long time. For instance, the "close tab" button on each tab, saved sessions, and the feature you were saying about being able to bring back closed tabs? This is known as the trash can on Opera.

Anyway, I'm an Opera user

I must admit I was a bit disappointed with FF2. Not that there was anything bad but it just didn't seem to warrant going up a whole version. This should've been something like 1.8. I mean the only truely new feature is the live bookmarks, everything else is just an upgrade of already existing stuff. In addition to that some extensions have become incompatible and I'm still waiting on them to be updated. Again, not a bad update, I just don't see what the fuss is about.
I also gotta mention the skin update - this is probably the most insignificant part of the update yet every preview and review of FF2 starts with that - people, they added highlights to the buttons, get over it!

As for the whole Bully fiasco, I'm gonna ask an obvious question here with an obvious answer - why should gay kissing be rated any differently than regular kissing?

Great show guys and guysettes..

I just like to say that Vista runs alot better than XP with WinFX. And im running the exact same setup on both OS (apart from internetsecurity and WB), it might be cause i have WB 5 running on XP too but the animations lag with winfx they never do that in Vista and im just using the "dim to desktop" animations no swirvy stuff Never the less i think WB and Winfx are both awsome products cant wait to see what winfx will do in Vista.
