Ok you just knew I was going to comment on this episode lol
Before I get to the Chronicles of Riddick though, I've got to say I think the runtime has hit the sweet spot now. I didn't feel like it was over just as I was getting into it as I have done with previous episodes.
The content was as usual, consistently high and I'm really starting to appreciate the way a new user can follow along as well as the avid geeks. That's a tough line to stay on.
There seems to be a group dynamic building and I'm not so sure whether it is because I'm starting to get to know the voices and opinions or whether the "team" is just geniunely geling better on air. Either way it's a good thing and Derek has definetly taken a step up in my estimation, which pretty much leaves me with nothing to complain about. Or does it? lol
The Chronicles of Riddick then, ok my first comment about that as I'm sure you were aware was very tongue in cheek but now it's personal lol
Pitch Black was a terrific little low budget flick and I think most people would agree with that. Next movie which a lot of people miss was funded by Vin Diesel himself and it was called Dark Fury, an animation which took off exactly where Pitch Black left off and ended at the point where Chronicles of Riddick started. If you take the trilogy as a whole then, it has a lot going for it. I think clearly the first movie didn't need a huge budget to create an enjoyable piece of sci-fi and with the last movie, it could be accused of focusing too much on the fact it focused too much on the budget.
BUT.
I like to think of that meeting about third movie going something like "we got the funding, tell the guy that does the 3D models he's fired, were going to build all this to scale!", and before the accountants could get a word in "you don't know the pain I went through trying to make an entire world on film with $100. Get me the biggest props companies on the phone NOW!"
And finally, how can a movie with a line like this be considered anything but a classic?
Convict: You're gonna kill me with your soup cup?Riddick: Tea, actually. Convict: What? Riddick: I'll kill you with my teacup.
Wow, uh sorry 'bout that hehe. This site doesn't seem to agree with firefox. Now with IE, here is my short comment:
Amazing job guys, keep the news flowin' and the entertainment rollin'
As always nice show!
Thanks Tim and Neksus! Glad you enjoyed the show.
General Vyper: I think the set of emoticons pretty much sums up most people's feelings about our show, but I appreciate your explanation too. (And sorry about the Firefox trouble).
RiddickRom: We love you man.
I Googled "dragon shark" and got this: http://www.educazione.sm/nuovo/scuola/servizi/CD_virtuali/lavori_scuole/baldiserra/Mythological%20Monsters/Dragon%20Shark.htm
Is this the wonderful game you were referring to?
